Adventures in Dogsitting!!!

So this week Erin and I get to Dogsit! How exciting! Our friend Julie left to go to Costa Rica (life is rough) today and we get to watch her dog! We did get to take Hominy to the "Dog Days of Summer" baseball game last week for a night, everyone can bring their dog to the game. Julie really missed her! I can't imagine how Julie feels now not having her dog for a week! But so far, Hominy and I have gone for a ride, stopped at the park and played catch with the ball. So much more ball to be played this week!!

Oh yeah, and as far as my crush on the baseball player Dinkelman...well he got moved up to Connecticut...bummer. I've moved on to Miracles player, Whitt Robbins, number 27, first baseman. He isn't as good as Dinkelman but he will do.

Demolition Derby!!

I believe this is one of the most redneck things I have ever done in my life but Erin and I went to a Demolition Derby last night! It was awesome! Our friend Mitch was in it so we had to go and cheer! I attached some pics from the night! It was a very enjoyable night!! Look for the black station wagon with pink lettering "IRON MITCH!" on the side....that is my friend's car!

Dinkelman!!

So since the boys are honky, Erin and I have resorted to other things. Erin loves Shia LaBeouf (Mutt from Indiana Jones, the cute kid from Transformers, and the kid from Disturbia).
I have set my eyes a little more realistically and have started to like baseball. If you are from Minnesota, you may know that the Minnesota Twins minor league team is the Ft. Myers Miracles located just a mere 1 hr and 15 minutes drive north of me. The cheap tickets are just 5 bucks!! So at first I just liked that fact that the last name was Dinkelman! (From the movie Just Friends) but then found out that he is actually cute! So on June 19th I will be at Hammond Stadium for Dog Days (Erin and I are stealing a dog, don't worry the owner gave us permission!) and going to the game! She's a good looking dog so we have high hopes!

PS...Bonny, if this doesn't work out, do you have room for 2? AND does Ryan have 2 friends at the navy base?

Grandpa's Birthday!!

So this is a little be-lated but it still counts! My cuz emailed me a pic from my grandpa's birthday party and I thought I would post it! My grandpa turned 90 on June 8th. He still lives in his house, does ALMOST everything by himself; cooks, cleans up, yard work AND he still drives. He doesn't drive much, he knows better, but to go a few blocks for groceries is okay. I love my grandpa very much and I always loved it when he would come out to the farm and I got to help him. Don't tell him this but I know he always let me win in checkers! I miss him and can't wait to see him next time I am home!

The Bars Suck and the Boys are Honky!!

This is the message I got from my friend Shannon the other night. I had called and left a message for her and she called and left a message for me saying that Florida must suck because I have called her and that by calling her, "it also means the bars suck and the boys are honky." So this is my response. There is only one bar and it only sucks if the locals find out you are a park ranger and decide to corner you and drill you on every little ticket they got, even though I am NOT a LAW ENFORCEMENT ranger. As for the boys...yes they are honky. There is NO denying that!! And for the record, there is NO way I am going to marry into this city. They better plan on moving to Alaska or something. So that is one comment for the press. There is a lot more background to this outburst. But the sum of it is...I am glad that I have experienced the United States. I love my little home town but I know that it is important to get out and see what life can throw at you. I encourage all to do this. I'm not saying you can't move back to raise a family where you grew up, but get out and see things. If I hadn't, I would probably be a dairy farmers wife in central Minnesota. Not quite in my arsenal of dreams.

Next, I wanted to show off the delicious nachos that Erin and I made!! Even down to deep frying the tortillas into chips! It also had taco meat, 3 cheeses, jalapeano peppers, salsa and then broiled for a few minutes! It was super good and I had to take a pic!

I do have to say that I did get to go out fishing yesterday! I spent the day fishing off the dock and my friend Robert came and picked me up for a little while, then my friend Hiram took me out. It was a very enjoyable day, I learned some tricks and style. I spent about 8 hours in the sun, got a nice tan and ended up with heat exhaustion, puking in the bathroom at the 7-11. I thought I had drank enough liquid throughout the day but evidently I did not. I couldn't even see straight outta my eyes and was stumbling all over. If a cop would have seen me, I probably would have gotten tested for drunkeness. But I did not have a drop the entire day! As for the fish count, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't catch anything except for catfish. I was very disappointed but there will be more days! Hiram did catch a starfish, it had latched onto a finger mullet he was using as bait.

Well, I gotta go to bed. I realized I hadn't posted anything in a while. I have been staying busy but haven't had a chance to post. I will be heading to a baseball game tomorrow so we will see what craziness I can get tomorrow!

Night out on the town! 'Glades style!

So last night started off very calm and relaxing. We went to our favorite resturant, Camelia's Street, and had our final meal for the summer there. They are shutting down because there isn't a lot of summer business. We had a few glasses of sangria and chatted about with some friends. Well, then going to Leebo's Rock Bottom Bar was brought up and that's when the night turned long. We all headed down to have a few and I just wanted to share some more pics of my friends here in the Everglades. Oh, and one more thing...If your at Leebo's Rock Bottom Bar...you've hit rock bottom!

Captain Julie and me!

Erin, Me, Julie and Frank "The Bread Man"

ROOMIES!!! ooootOOOOO!

Our strong man, Nate. We tell him he's "special " all the time.

Ryan and the famous Mr. Floyd Brown! He's one of many available bachelors in the Everglades. I'm talking about the old guy by the way...Ryan is taken.

Mitch. He's a Nascar lovin', Bud Lite drinkin', southern Florida speach-a-slurrin', Redneck lovin' guy. There's so much more but I only have so much room.

And finally Little Mitch. Named after his father. This kid is gonna be a trouble maker when he gets older but its fun to make him embarrassed while we can!!

Well, that's all my friends I got pictures of so far! I bet you all wish you could be here!
